Inbox Shows 0 Messages Yet Uses 48MB
From MsgServerDocWiki
How can an inbox show both 0 messages yet see 48MB?
Here's the situation: We are having a strange problem. And I must hasten to add, these are Outlook Connector users accessing our mail store, who use Communications Express (CE) on occasion. One user, in a CE session, shows an overquota status. The user's folder list shows an inbox with zero messages, and yet it is using 48Mb. How can this be?
The answer has to do with messages "marked for deletion" but not yet "expunged" by the user. Note that this is the way that the IMAP protocol works, and hence Messaging Server itself, because it uses IMAP.

Another possibility is that your quota database is incorrect. You can use the following command to check/verify/fix any inconsistencies:
reconstruct -q
Finally if you are running an older release of messaging server (prior to 118207-44), then you may be hitting the following bug:
bug #6324994 - messages marked as deleted but not expunged disappear from webmail but count for quota (UWC worst)
If this is the case you should upgrade to a later release.
