Install FQDN Error

I am installing Communications Suite 2005Q4 (Java ES 4) and received the error, "Hostname test10 for this machine is not a fully qualified domain name. Please correct this before attempting to configure Messaging Server. Please make sure that your DNS is working properly." What should I do?

Check the following:

  • Add "search test.<domain>" to the end of the /etc/resolv.conf file.
  • Verify that the FQDN is the first name for the host on its line in /etc/hosts
  • Verify that the FQDN is in the /etc/inet/ipnodes file.
  • Verify that you have files then dns on the hosts and ipnodes lines in your /etc/nsswitch.conf file.
