Messaging Server uses two mechanisms for controlling client access. One mechanism is for access to MTA Dispatcher based services such as the SMTP server; see Mail filtering and access control. The second mechanism is for access to Message Store servers such as the POP, IMAP, and MSHTTP servers, as well as the MMP and proxy servers; this mechanism uses the TCP wrappers approach.
